OPERATION WRITE HOME - Sketch Challenge #211

Today's Sketch #211 at Operation Write Home Blog, Stars and Stamps is a very simple one. I have several ideas that I will try using this basic layout.

They are predicting some winter weather for us again this week.  Yesterday was like a spring day reaching the lower 60's.  By tomorrow evening, or Tuesday morning, we are supposed to have some frozen precipitation.  It is too early for the 'experts' to call what form the precipitation will fall. It is a big deal for those of us in the south.

So .... in pursuit of spring, I decided to make a spring card featuring a cute bunny die cut.

Sentiment:   I created the sentiment attempting to copy one that  I had downloaded on line quite a while back but could no longer find in my computer files. The fonts are not exactly the same, but they work.

OWH CARD BOWL CHALLENGE #2 - Sports Shaped Cards

The OWH CARD BOWL Challenge for Saturday is sponsored by Our Daily Bread Designs. Based on the number of cards entered, ODBD will fund the shipping charges of some OWH Cards sent to the deployed Heroes.

The challenge is to make a masculine card using brown as the main color.

I made this shaped card using a Football Cut File from Silhouette.  I created the shaped card base using the main football shape and duplicating it twice; inserting a small rectangle between the two football shapes and welding them.

I used the same technique for all of these sports shaped cards.

I kept the size of all of these cards under the A2 size so they are definitely going in the box to OWH.

Isn't he a cutie?  I hope that he is still smiling on Sunday night.

OWH Card Bowl - Denver Skyline

Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Blog is featuring CARD BOWL 2014 this weekend.  Friday's challenge is to make a masculine card that somehow reflects either the Seahawks or Broncos.

Jelly Baby Cards for Dr. Who ?

Had some making shaped cards this afternoon.  I will share more later, but for now I wanted to post this set of Jelly Baby cards.  I used a cut file from Birds Cards on my Silhouette Cameo.

Geared Up - OWH Sketch Challenge #208

When I saw OWH Sketch #208 on Sunday, I knew that I wanted to use my Spellbinder "Sprightly Sprockets" dies for the circles and make a masculine card.

I finally decided on paper from The Paper Studio Stonewashed 4x6 pad.  To fully feature the sprockets, or gears, I decided to layer them on top of the middle strip rather than under it.  I already had this little circle sentiment stamped from some other cards and I laid it on the card to check the colors.  The little smooth circle seemed the perfect final touch to balance out the rough edged gears.

I am pleased with the results for a rustic masculine card.

The rain stopped, the sun is out and the the temperature warmed up for a beautiful Sunday!  It really is invigorating to see the sun again!

Today's OWH Sketch #207 was quick and fun for me to put together.  I am looking forward to making more cards this afternoon with this sketch, some scraps and various sentiments.

OLD GUYS RULE - Operation Write Home - Sketch Challenge #206

Last weekend and early week, I was was battling the cold/flu that is rampant here in Upstate SC ...ugh!  I am better but not completely over the congestion and cough. We had record low temperatures early in the week and now we have heavy rain and flash flood warnings!  A good craft day for me!  :)

It has taken me nearly a week to get my card made and posted for the first OWH Sketch Challenge of 2014.  Just today, it has been a circuitous route for me just to take the picture and write this post.

Old Guys Rule - Golfer

I have posted a card made with this 'Old Guy' before. The problem is I bought this unmounted rubber stamp at the Greenville (SC) Stamp Show in September 2013, but I didn't write down which booth I got it at - bummer! That was my first stamp show, so I have learned my lesson about that.
