WELCOME

Welcome to Scrap Tower, my little corner of the world, where I share my creativity with you.

I enjoy many forms of crafting, from paper crafting to sewing. I make custom greeting cards for family and friends. I've made unique custom cards commissioned by friends.

I am proud to have been a card maker for the organization Operation Write Home (OWH) for several years supplying 1,000+ handmade cards for our HEROES.

I continue to make cards as gifts or to sell and I am testing a few other sewing and crochet projects to sell.

My current charitable project is Sew Powerful Purse and I have sewn and donated 20+ purses in the past two years. I plan to donate 10+ purses in 2018.

I enjoy sharing my creative passion with others, including children in Sunday School and Bible School, etc.

DISNEY HI! - OWH Sketch #184

Today's Sketch instantly made me think about this Mickey Mouse paper that I have. I knew that my card would feature our favorite Mouse!

This one is for you Michelle H. - I know that you are a big Disney fan!!

Mickey says "Hi !"

OWH Sketch #184

All of the papers are Disney licensed products from EK Success, Queen & Company, and Sandy Lion.
The sentiment is computer generated with the Walt Disney Script - free download.

I hope that it made you smile!!

Blue Without You - OWH Sketch #143

Hi Y'all!!!!

I have been busy trying to rearrange and reorganize my craft room. Parts of it are reorganized. The rest .... well, we won't talk about that.    I have been making OWH cards too; just not blogging.

I really like the OWH Sketch today and I have several ideas rattling around in the creative side of my brain.  {smile}

I have been trying to come up with a way to use the sentiment "blue without you".  I saw a card in a magazine which had a tree with blue leaves and that sentiment. It was cute, but I wanted to come up with something different. Today's sketch helped me create this design.

Chain of Hearts - Blue Without You

Before adhering everything, I tried the layout with a layer of blue behind the white embossed layer.  I liked it better without that blue layer.   I will probably do one of these with shades of red, or red to pink, with a love sentiment also.

Punch:  EK Success Chain of Hearts
Embossing Folder: Darice Heart
Sentiment: Computer generated with Harlow font

OWH Cute Character Challenge

This week's OWH Midweek Challenge is Cute Characters.  I decided to use this cute pre-colored digital image from Art Explosion's Scrapbook Factory Deluxe (v3.0).

I had no idea for a layout, so I perused the OWH Sketches for inspiration. I selected Sketch #14 for the layout. I thought I would 'throw' this card together in no time, but I struggled with the elements and colors to use to compliment the image. Please let me know your comments. Do you think this works?
Happy Birthday Elephant
The sentiment is from Hero Arts You're The Best Set #CL545. The background cardstock is BoBunny Buttercup Dot #12BCD396. I used EK Success Swiss Cheese Edger Punch for the blue strip. The blue cardstock and gems are from my stash.

Later I may try to fussy cut the elephant image and try another layout.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your comments!

Later on Saturday evening ......

This is the first background I had started for the elephant card above.  It wasn't working for the cute little guy, so I set it aside.
Elephant ..... this is not working
When I came back to my craft room and saw this one on the desk, it looked like a tie to me.  So .........  LOOK what happened !
happy DAD day .... now it is working
This took just a few minutes to make the pocket and assemble the card.  Cool huh ???
LOL .... how about that !

OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge - Mother's Day

Hi all !  I have been so busy I have not had a chance to post many creations lately.  I have been working on my box of Half Mother's Day Cards / Half General Cards to send to OWH very soon. Right now my total count is 50.

I have several Mother's Day cards to share with you today, in addition to the ones that I have posted in previous challenges.

#1) I have always liked yellow roses, so this is a favorite DCWV paper, from one of the 6x6 pads. The plaid yellow is from the same pad.

MOM - yellow roses

I used EK Border punches on yellow card stock and textured white card stock for the layers.  The sheer yellow ribbon was purchased by the yard at our local variety store. I cut the word 'mom' with my Craft Robo.

I have used this design with pink roses and red roses and changed the sentiment for whatever occasion I needed.

#2) Believe it or not, I designed this next card while riding in the car on the way to visit my husband's aunt in Marietta, GA!

I took my bag of basic scrapbook/card making tools. We stopped at a couple of craft and scrapbook stores between home in SC and Marietta, GA. I picked up a few interesting pieces of paper and could not wait to start making cards, even while winding through the mountains of NE GA.

MOTHER - Botanique

I purchased the ribbon from Michael's dollar bin first, just because I thought it was interesting. I had no idea that the next place I visited would have paper that matched so perfectly !!

The paper is American Crafts Botanique series - Elanor is the floral design and Greta is the smaller print. I used the solid colors on the reverse of each print too. I regret that I purchased only one sheet of each.

The sentiment is from Little Yellow Bicycle delight*ful collection D-232. I added three tiny gemstones on the sentiment banner.
